Ruth Mary Sampson passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family in Appleton, WI at the age of 78. Ruth was born on August 21, 1940 in Ironwood, Michigan to Lars and Hanna Aaltonen. She loved her Finnish heritage.

She was a strong woman with a healthy dose of sisu-strength of will. She had a strong faith in God which guided her life and brought her peace in her passing. She loved baking and cooking and her favorite saying is “shut up and eat”.

Ruth is survived by her children, Randy (Ginger) Sampson, Greg (Tammy) Sampson, Deborah Sampson (James Heavey) and Melanie (Scott) Milslagle; grandchildren James (Jodi) Sampson, Andy Sampson, Gayle Sampson, Kaylie (Kevin) Manteufel, Ken Sampson, Brandon Sampson, Christopher Sampson, Stella Milslagle, Evie Milslagle and Lucy Milslagle; great-grandchildren Dakota Wautier and Reese Manteufel; siblings Betty (Bob) Ross and Peter Aaltonen. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Edward Sampson. As per Ruth’s wishes the funeral will be kept private.
