Ruth’s Obituary Saratoga Springs, NY – Ruth Mary Hursh Susat 84 passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at home. Born August 2, 1934 in Rochester, New York, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Nolan Hursh. Ruth is predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard, an infant daughter, Mary Jane Mykins, a brother William Hursh, a sister Mary Carroll Minhinnett and a granddaughter Allison Mykins.

Ruth was a business/secretary major in high school and worked for the New York Telephone Co., St. Mary’s Hospital and Sears in various office positions. She was employed as Commercial Division Secretary at Honeywell, Inc. For 15 years and for the University of Rochester for 11 years, ending her career there as Administrative Assistant to the Director of Libraries in 1984. Ruth and Richard moved to Saratoga Springs in 1985 to be near their daughter.

They were excellent woodworkers and traveled the craft circuit for some time, eventually opening a Country Decorating shop in Downstreet Marketplace and then moving the shop to Broadway. As a result of Ruth’s love of painting, she took classes in Tole Art and became an accomplished artist. In addition to her love of tole art, her other loves were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her sisters Margaret Rovetelli and Judith Zukoaski; her children and their spouses Dr. Jonathan & Elizabeth Susat, Kimberly & Mark Sutton, David & Ann Mykins, Mark & Lynelle Mykins and William and Jennifer Mykins. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren Rick, Kate, Brian, Kristin, Jonathan, Nicholas, Zachary, Markyrie, Anthony, Lillian, Charlie, TJ, Addison and Caroline. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 9am to 10am Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in the historic Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway followed by a Mass to be celebrated at 10am by the Rev. Thomas H. Chevalier Pastor and burial at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Online remembrances may be made at burkefuneralhome.com.
