Cannelton, Indiana Ruth W. Bridges, 93, passed away March 23, 2019. She was born in Kimball, Nebraska on April 3, 1925 to the late John Gettel and Rosa (Winters) Gettel. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Tyre Glen Bridges; two granddaughters and one great-great granddaughter; and seven siblings.

Ruth had worked most of her life as dairy farmer and had owned and operated Douglas Bar and Grill in Douglas, Nebraska. She retired from Western Electric in Lincoln, NE. Ruth was a member of Petersburg Lutheran Church in Petersburg, Alaska where she was active in the Ruth Quilters and supported the youth ministry and Sons of Norway, where she enjoyed playing bingo.

She also enjoyed sewing, quilting and fishing. Surviving is her daughter, Lynda Towle, Douglas, NE; four siblings; six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.

Huber Funeral Home, Tell City is assisting with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Petersburg Lutheran Church, 406 Excel Street, Petersburg, Alaska 99833.
