Ruth M. Westfall Daugherty, 96, of 110 McFate Rd. , Oil City, PA. , died early Saturday morning Jan.

19, 2019, at her residence surrounded by family. Born June 25, 1922, in Ashtabula, OH, she was the daughter of the late William E. Westfall & Mable C. Anthony Westfall. Ruth attended schools in Titusville.

Prior to her marriage, she worked for Dr. Peebles and his wife in Titusville. Ruth was married on June 20, 1939 to Jack M. Daugherty who preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 2006.

A mother of four, Ruth was an avid reader, a gourmet cook and baker, and a mesmerizing storyteller. She enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially moose and bear in Canada. She loved watching birds, especially hummingbirds, deer, turkeys, and bears that visited her yard.

Above all else Ruth loved spending time telling stories, and sharing jokes with her family, as well as instilling a love of cooking and baking, but most importantly a love of God. An enthusiastic traveler, Ruth and her husband visited 49 states, missing only Hawaii, and all the Canadian provinces. She was of the Protestant faith, and formerly attended the Nazarene Church.

She is survived by two daughters: Jacqueline Gilbert of Oil City and Rebecca McDonald & husband Alfred of Oil City, and a son-in-law Arthur McCauley of Fryburg; eight grandchildren: Patti McIntyre & husband Peter of Oil City, Brigette DeArman & her husband Stephen of NC, Jennifer Perkins & husband Timothy of MD, Ronald Daugherty & wife Kelli of FL, Sheri Fletcher & husband Kelly of FL, Michael Deeter & wife Lori of MI, Curtis Deeter & wife Melanie of Oil City, Brynne Deeter and significant other Dan Lauer of Oil City; and six step grandchildren: Kevin McCauley of Fryburg, Scott McCauley & wife Sherry of Franklin, Karen Yingling & husband Jay of Franklin, Joseph McDonald of Oil City, Donna & Wm. David Ashley of NC, Brenda Liebmann of Seneca. She is also survived by great grandchildren: Dr. Jessica McIntyre & husband Steven Mangold; Randy, Jesse, and Kevin Long; Gage and Hunter Deeter; Colin Deeter, Tera Deeter, and David Thomas.

Ruth is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Robert Randal Daugherty; her daughter, Juanita McCauley; her granddaughter, Shannon Long; and her son-in-law Frederick Gilbert. Ruth was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Pearl Emerson & husband Allen; Jay Westfall; Robert Westfall & wife Lou; Ethel Burnside & husband Walter; Goldie Wagner & husband Tony; Mary Wagner & husband William; Lois Sterling & husband Elmer.
