Obituary of Ruth Chatham Ruth S. Chatham, 89, of Salisbury, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018, peacefully at Coastal Hospice At The Lake. Born on July 11, 1929 in Rogersville, TN, she was the daughter of the late Timothy and Bessie Phipps Smith. Ruth attended Rogersville High School in Tennessee.

She was employed with Sears as a department manager for over 20 years until her retirement. Ruth enjoyed cooking, doing search word puzzles, planting as well as sewing and embroidering. Ruth is survived by a son, Steven Everhart; five granddaughters, Stephanie L. Roberts, Sarah Ann Weiss, Jamie Lee Everhart, April C. Melvin, and Malerie Ann Everhart; three grandsons, Matthew David Everhart, Garett R. Weiss, and Taylor Joseph Everhart; four sisters, Wanda Gilliam, Louise Mullins, Shirley Hurd, and Betty Reeves; a brother, Timothy Gale Smith; five great-granddaughters, Hannah E. Naundorph, Holly R. Weiss, Arianna Neemar, Amiee Polk, and Amia Neemar; a great-grandson, Anthony M. Weiss; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her first husband Ruba Everhart, Sr., her second husband William Chatham, a son, Ruba Lee Everhart, Jr. and a daughter, Donna Carol Weiss. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury. A visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service.
