Sally’s Obituary Entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 4, 2019, Marcella Anne Degnan Runey LaTorre, wife of Joseph Francis LaTorre. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. LaTorre are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Comittall will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

CharlestonFunerals.com Sally was born in Charleston, SC on November 20, 1942, a daughter of John William Degnan and Alice Baker Degnan.
She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School as a child and graduated from Bishop England High School in 1960. She was a member of numerous clubs and enjoyed being a cheerleader for the Battling Bishops. In 1963, Sally graduated from Saint Francis Xavier Hospital School of Nursing.
One of her greatest passions was being a school nurse for Charleston County School District. Sally’s last years before retirement were spent as a School Nurse Liaison for DHEC. As a loving wife and mother, Sally was devoted to her family and loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports.
Her favorite pastime was caring for others and she will be remembered for her strong faith, love, kindness and compassion. Sally is survived by her husband, Joseph F. LaTorre; her children: William M. Runey, Jr., Christine R. Walton and her husband, Donnie, and John D. Runey and his wife, Maureen; her grandchildren: Mary Katherine Runey, Kimberly A. Runey, William M. Runey III, Thomas D. Walton, Margaret B. Walton, Joseph W. Walton, Shawn D. Runey, and Kayla R. Runey; and her sister, Alice D. Bolchoz.
