Samuel’s Obituary Samuel A. Falcone Sr., 97 of Pittston, went into the hands of the Lord on Sunday, May 12, 2019 while at his home. Born on, October 4, 1921 in Pittston he was the son of the late Carmelo and Calogera “Carrie” Zanta Falcone. Surviving are his children, Carmen Falcone and wife Carmella, Pittston, Tina and husband Richard Rava, Moscow, Giovanna and husband The Honorable Joseph F. Saporito Jr., Jenkins Twp.

He is also survived by grandchildren, Santina Falcone Vieira and husband Bobby, Samuel Falcone, Carmen Falcone Jr., Rick Rava and wife Brandy, Michael Rava and wife Brooke, Matthew Rava, Sarah Saporito Ginder and husband Graham, Joseph F. Saporito III, Tianna Falcone, Elana Falcone, Angelina Y. Falcone, great grandchildren, Alia Rava, Rocco Rava and Mia Rava, brothers, Charles Falcone and wife Irene, Carmen Falcone and wife Eva Mae, sisters in law, Sandra, Beverly and Barbara Falcone. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his wife Yolanda M. (Gatti) Falcone, infant grandson, Patrick Saporito, brothers, Raymond, Leonard, and Angelo Falcone, sisters Tina Falcone Viola and Eleanor Falcone, brother in law Michael and wife Rosalie Viola. Sam was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston. Prior to that, he was a loyal, devoted and supportive parishioner of the former St. Rocco’s Church, Pittston.
Before retiring, Sam was the president of Falcone Beverage Co., Pittston. He, along with his brothers, owned and operated the business which began in the family garage on Vine St., Pittston in 1946. Throughout his life Sam was involved in numerous professional and charitable organizations.
However, he was particularly proud of being one of the original founders of the Luzerne County Sports Hall of Fame and its first president and sponsoring the MVP award for the Pittston Area / Wyoming Area Football game named in memory of his father for over 40 years. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sam’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral services are in the care of Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Twp.
Viewing hours will be held from 4-8 pm at the funeral home on Thursday, May 16, 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 12:30 pm from St. Joseph Marello Parish, William St., Pittston. Those who plan on attending are asked to go directly to the church the day of the funeral.
