Samuel’s Obituary Samuel Delbert Thomas, age 96 of Morgan Township, Ohio passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Birchwood Care Center. He was born on July 14, 1922 in Fancy Farm, Kentucky, the son of Frederick and Mary Emma (Thompson) Thomas. He served in the US Army during World War II from 1942-1945, receiving a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.

After serving in the Army, he worked for Fernald as an Inspector for 19 years. He was a member of St. Aloysius Church in Shandon and was the founder of St. Vincent DePaul at the parish. On October 13, 1956, at Resurrection Church in Price Hill, he married Mary Clare Voellmecke Thomas, and together they had three children.

He is survived by his children, Andrew J. (Suzanne) Thomas of Liberty Township, Paul S. Thomas of Morgan Township, and Susan M. Thomas of Morgan Township; grandchildren, Joshua P. Thomas, Aaron J. Thomas, and Benjamin L. Clark; one great granddaughter, Lorelei Avery Thomas; and many other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers and sisters, James Willard, William Lennon, Joseph, Mary Antonia, Freda Cecelia, Henry, Anna Katherine, and Theresa. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Charles C. Young Funeral Home, 4032 Hamilton Cleves Road, Ross, OH from 5 to 7 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Aloysius Church, 3350 Chapel Road, Shandon, OH on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Aloysius Church, Shandon, OH.
