Obituary for Samuel E. Carmon Samuel E. Carmon, aged 82, passed peacefully at home into the presence of the Lord on December 22. He was born in Salem to the late Samuel L. Carmon and Verna Klessel Carmon. Sam was a lifelong resident of Pennsville and worked as a carpenter from the age of 17.

He was a life member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America and the Northeast Carpenters Local. Sam worked on the construction of the Nuclear Power Plant from its inception. He built his own home and several other homes in the neighborhood.

He enjoyed sharing his talents with neighbors and friends. In his retirement years, he volunteered with the “Thursday Crew” in doing various projects at Camp Roosevelt. Sam was an avid roller skate, still active into his 70’s.

Square dancing was an activity he and his wife enjoyed and were founding members of the “Salem County Stompers”. Sam is survived by his wife of 61 years Florence (nee Johnson), brother Ernest (Bernice), daughter Robin (Don), sons Samuel Jr. and Daniel (Carol). He is also survived by grandsons Brandon (Amanda), Jeffery (Chrystal), Sammy, and Jason, great grandsons Aiden, Nolan and Lucas, great granddaughters Mia and Alexa, and as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and Uncle Sam.

He will be greatly missed by all. A visitation will be held on Saturday January 5, 2019 from 1pm to 2pm at the Ashcraft Funeral Home, 740 South Broadway, Pennsville, NJ with a service following at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made on Samuel’s behalf to Quinton Baptist Church 46 Main Street Quinton, NJ 08072.
