Obituary Samuel M. Padgett, 73, of Dover passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019 in the Akron General Medical Center. Born October 4, 1945 in Dover Township, he was a son of the late Virgil and Dorothy West Padgett. Sam was also preceded in death by his sister, Ann Lovie Steiner; half-brothers, Nelson “Tom” and Walter “Pete” West.

Sam proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he was employed at Greer Steel, having retired in 2007 with 38 years of service. He was a life member of the VFW Post 9620 in Midvale, and a member of Local 2737-12 of the USWA.

Sam is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cynthia Wade Padgett whom he married on February 20, 1966; children, Mary (Chris) Hayes of New Philadelphia, William (Dolly) Padgett Sr.; grandchildren, Raven Ann Segee, Jess Wills, Rowan Wills, William Padgett Jr., Virgil Padgett, and Olivia Wills. Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. There are no services or calling hours.
