Shoemaker, age 80, passed away peacefully at her home in Sheridan on Saturday, April 27, 2019. Born June 2, 1938 in Rensselear, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Howard Bridgeman and Louise (LaFavers) Bridgeman Baldwin. She was a 1956 graduate of Lebanon High School where she was very active in the choir.

For a short time, 1956-1960, Sandy worked for Meridian Mutual Insurance Company. Sandy also belonged to a group called Indiana Rural Youth. It was during these years that she would meet and fall in love with her future husband.

On April 30, 1959 Sandy married the love of her life, Dwight M. Shoemaker. Together they worked the family farm and were supervisors for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association for over 40 years. Sandy was an avid reader and enjoyed going antiquing.

She attended Little Eagle Creek Christian Church for many years. Family was a very important part of Sandy’s life. Survivors inclued: 2 daughters: Anita Salyers (Jeff) of Roachdale, Indiana Janice Lors (David) of West Chicago, Illinois Taking daytrips with her girls was one of her favorite activities.

4 grandchildren: Hillary Corbitt (Steven) of Warsaw Chase Salyers of Dayton, OH Cindy Lors of West Chicago, Illinois Jenny Lors of West Chicago, Illinois sister: Janet Williams of Indianapolis aunt: Joan Pyles of Brownsburg sister in law: Rosalyn Stuckey of Sheridan. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, James Baldwin; and by her husband Dwight on May 3, 2008. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 East 10th Street, Sheridan, Indiana.

Burial will follow at Mts. Runn Cemetery in Boone County. Pastor Steven Yarbrough will be officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Kercheval Funeral Home in Sheridan. Memorial contributions may be presented the charity of your choice.
