Sandra Lee “Sandy” Heller April 10, 1936 – May 08, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Sandra Lee “Sandy” Heller, 83, of Emporia died Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Sandra Lee Herron, the daughter of Lester C. and Helen Mae Hoffman Herron was born April 10, 1936 in Pittsburg. She married George W. “Bill” Heller on March 31, 1957 in Pittsburg.

He preceded her in death on September 17, 1998. She attended Pittsburg University and also studied advanced organ studies at St. Louis University. Sandy worked for Maurices, and was the office manager for the Flinthills Eye Care Optometrists.

She was the organist and member of the First Christian Church for many years. She also was a former member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She belonged to the PEO, Rainbow Girls, the Sweet Adelines, and the ESU Community Chorus.

Sandy is survived by her companion, Cameron Moore of Emporia; her two sons, David (Susan) Heller of Lawrence and Shawn (Karen) Heller of Overland Park; a brother Jon Herron of Carmel, Indiana; a sister, Linda McAnany of Jefferson City, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Judy Siefert of Kansas City, Missouri; and four grandchildren, Kaitlin, Christopher, Will, and Nate Heller. The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the First Christian Church. The service will be officiated by Pastors Lorraine Baily and Bob Colerick.

Friends can visit with the family from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, at the church. Cremation will follow the service, with internment at Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg at a later date. Donations to either the First Christian Church or Emporia Friends of the Zoo may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett.
