Scott spent much of his adult life learning, working in the mental health field, and in ministry. He has degrees from Judson College in Elgin, IL, the American Baptist Seminary in Berkeley, CA, and Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves, MO.

In addition to the years he spent working in various churches and other ministry positions across the United States, Scott was a House Parent at Hudelson Baptist Children’s Home, he served as Chaplain at a number of places, including Anna State Hospital (now Choate Mental Health Center) in Anna, IL. , US Penitentiary Marion in Marion, IL, Barnes Jewish Hospital and St Luke’s Hospital in St Louis, MO. He worked in various capacities with children and adults living with mental illness and developmental challenges.

Additionally he was the Psychometrist at Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego, CA. Scott is survived by his wife, Wendy Thomson; his daughter, Erin (Phil) Thomson Arndt and grandchildren Blake and Brooklyn; son, Jason (Jessica) Thomson and grandchildren Sierra and Saul; stepdaughter, Katrina (Jeff) Thomas and grandchildren Sophia and Mira; stepson, Brian (Megan) Isenogle and grandchildren Matthew and Cameron; as well as nephews, nieces, and other relatives.
