OBITUARY Seymour Cooper July 5, 1925 – December 1, 2018 Seymour (Sy) Cooper, 93, peacefully passed over the evening of December 1st. While he was predeceased by his wife of over 60 years, Joyce (2007) he never stopped loving her. Predeceased by his daughter Phyliss (2018), Sy is survived by his daughter, Beth Friedman and her husband Steve, his son Evan Cooper and his wife Sonia, his Sister-in-Law Ruth Appel, and a tribe of 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Sy will always be remembered for his energy and love of life. There is some universal message that he passed on Hanukkah as his light shone bright and long. Living through the hardships of the depression never tainted his positive view of life and of those around him.

Always proud of his service as a Seabee in WWII, he never stopped supporting the VFW and is an honored member of our greatest generation. Always ready to explore life he had a lifelong love of music and has an extensive jazz collection. He was a featherweight boxer, musician, magician, photographer, impersonator, sound engineer, and blessed to have loved his profession as a lithographer.

Unless you hit on 14 when the dealer showed a 5, he never had a bad word for anyone. His life reflected his advice to judge a person by what they do, not what they say. A grave side service will be held for Sy at 12:30pm on Monday December 3, 2018 at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.

The family will be sitting Shiva at Sy’s house immediately following the burial until 7pm and Tuesday 10am-7pm. Memorial contributions can be made in his name to a VFW or any wounded warrior organization.
