Obituary for Shannon E. Williamson Shannon E Williamson passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 in Clearwater, Florida, after prolonged complications following a series of surgeries. A strong, kind, and faithful daughter, sister, and friend, she was born on September 13, 1970, in Atlanta, Georgia. She spent most of her life in Atlanta, but also lived in Nashville, Memphis, and Clearwater.

A lifelong member of the Unitarian Universalist Association, Shannon’s younger years and some her most significant and life-long relationships grew from her involvement with YRUU. Her second home was in the Blue Ridge Mountains where she spent her summers at SUUSI—a space where family and friends melded and created one of the richest parts of her life. Shannon is survived by her mother, Jeani Jessen, and brother Jess Evans, sister-in-law Sarah, and nephew, Ash Simon as well as a large group of beloved cousins spread throughout the Southeast.

Shannon adored the beach, music, tequila, and a very good single malt scotch. Proud of her Scottish heritage, she was a former commissioner and active member of the Clan Gunn Society of North America, which was founded by her grandparents, Donald and Bobby Williamson. She graduated from Catawba College with a BS in Communications.

Her professional life was spent in radio, where she worked in traffic management. A celebration of her Shannon’s will be held in early December at Northwest Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Atlanta, Georgia—all are welcome. To honor Shannon’s legacy, a college account will be established for her nephew or please donate to the SUUSI scholarship fund (for information, contact honoringshannon@gmail.com).
