Sharon Ann Hembree April 15, 1947 – December 23, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Sharon Ann Hembree, age 71, of Chicago, IL passed away on December 23, 2018, of natural causes. She was the daughter of Iladean Smith and Fred E. Hembree and was born on April 15, 1947, in Bell County, Kentucky, where she was raised by her paternal grandparents, Nelson and Rennie Hembree, until their deaths in 1963 and 1964. She lived in Middlesboro and moved to Chicago upon graduating high school in 1965, where she met Sotero Cortés Colón and had 5 children: Sotero, Michael, Geoffrey, Christy Gina.

Following her years as a stay-at-home mother, she worked as a CNA at ‘Continental Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center’ for over 20 years. She was fond of many of the Residents she cared for there. She retired in 2008 and since suffering complications from shoulder and hip fractures, she lived in various nursing homes until her death.

She is survived by her children, sister Barbara (Jaime) grandson Anthony (Amanda) her 5 nieces-Elisha (Angel), Barbara (Robert), Jessica (Todd), Susan (Jorge) and Laura (Edwin) and 2 great-granddaughters, Theaphani and Thanasis as well as her good friends and co-workers, Carmen and Paula. She follows her parents, ex-partner Sotero, and her nephew Jaime, in death. We will miss her dearly and love her always.
