Sharon Ann (Williams) Johnson, of TallyHo Dr. East, affectionately known as “Cookie,” went home to be with the Lord on Sunday December 30, 2018 at 11:45 A.M. at age 59 after an extended illness surrounded by loved ones. Sharon was born September 27, 1959, to the union of the late James and Willie Mae (Ferrell) Williams, Sr. in South Bend, Indiana. As the “baby” of seven children, Sharon professed her life to the lord and was reared in New Testament Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev.

Dr. Allen Gary and currently attended Jesus Is The Rock Church under the leadership of Pastor Graylin Watson. A lifelong area resident, Sharon attended Muessel, Colfax, and Stanley Clarke schools, graduating from LaSalle High School in the summer of 1977. Shortly thereafter, she began working as a caseworker for the South Bend Welfare Department.

She also found employment at Koszegi Industries, Inc. before beginning Police Academy in January 1985. She served on the South Bend Police Department for 25 years, retiring in 2010 with the rank of sergeant. A ‘jack of all trades,’ Sharon obtained a forklift and welding certification from Ivy Tech and also graduated from Davenport University with a Certified Medical Assistant licensure.

Prior to her illness, Sharon was employed by Chassix & Aucilla. “Cookie” was quite the extrovert and never a dull moment just wasn’t a thing when you were around her. She loved to travel, often hopping on the road “just because,” and loved a good laugh.

A strong music lover, Cookie was always listening to something. Her favorites included: James Brown (ABSOLUTE FAVORITE), Johnny Taylor, Millie Jackson & BB King. Cookie took fashion cues from no one.

She always rocked the latest fashion trends and looked good doing it. Though she had no children of her own, Cookie was always found with somebody’s child! She loved all her nieces and nephews to pieces and would do anything to support and encourage them as best as she could.

Most can attest to the nights spent at Cookie’s house watching TV, talking mess, listening to music, somehow getting bribed into rubbing her hands, feet, and back, or riding around in her police car. Cookie lived life her way, moved to her own beat, and had fun while doing it. She leaves to cherish her memory: her faithful caregivers, nieces: Tanisha (Wesley Sr.) Harris and Lori (Fred) Porter; a special great-niece, whom she raised as her daughter: Aries Gordon; two sisters: Deborah (L.T.)
