SHARON (SMEGELSKI) SODLOSKY, PASSED AWAY ON SATURDAY JANURY 5, 2019 AFTER A BRIEF ILLNESS. SHE WAS BORN IN WATERBURY, CT ON JANUARY 30, 1944, DAUGHTER OF THE LATE THOMAS STANLEY SMEGELSKI AND JANE B. SMEGELSKI. SHARON IS SURVIVED BY HER SISTER, VIRGINIA NAFIS OF NAUGATUCK; HER SISTER-IN-LAW JAN SMEGELSKI-O’MEARA (WILLIAM) OF OLD LYME, CT; HER NIECE KAREN NAFIS GIANNI OF LITTLE RIVER, NY; HER NEPHEW DAVID NAFIS (MELISSA) OF SOUTHINGTON, CT; LAURA NAFIS PENNINGTON (EDWARD) OF WASHINGTON, D.C.; BRENDA SMEGELSKI DRAKE (ART) OF PLYMOUTH, CT; TRACIE SMEGELSKI ORTOLEVA (TOM) OF OLD LYME, CT; AND TOM SMEGELSKI, JR.

OF NAUGATUCK. SHE LEAVES HER STEP-SONS EDWARD, III (CINDY) OF MIDDLEBURY; DAVID OF NAUGATUCK AND STEVE OF HARWICH, MA; GRANDDAUGHTER STACEY (SPENCER); GRANDCHILDREN CHARLIE & EVIE SHE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY SEVERAL GREAT NIECES AND NEPHEWS; ZACKARY GIANNI; ASHLEY, JAKE & DREW NAFIS; PHILLIP AND CAROLINE PENNINGTON; ALLISON DRAKE; SOPHIA AND RYAN ORTOLEVA. SHE GRADUATED FROM ST.

VINCENT’S SCHOOL OF NURSING AND THEN WORKED FOR MANY YEARS AS AN EMERGENCY ROOM NURSE IN ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA. SHE RETURNED TO NAUGATUCK AND WORKED FOR OVER 30 YEARS AT ST. MARY’S HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM FROM WHERE SHE RETIRED.

BESIDES HER COMPASSION FOR PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY HER FAMILY, SHE ALSO HAD A LOVE OF BIKE RIDING; PLANTING AND CARING FOR HER FLOWERS; AND HAD A WONDERFUL ABILITY TO CREATE BEAUTIFUL ART WORK. SHE ALSO LEAVES HER BELOVED DOG, BELLA. SHE IS PRE-DECEASED BY HER HUSBAND, EDWARD J. SODLOSKY, JR.

; HER PARENTS, HER BROTHER THOMAS ANTHONY; SEVERAL AUNTS AND UNCLES AND HER GRAND-NIECE KRISTEN GIANNI. THE FAMILY SENDS A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO CAREGIVERS MAGGIE, DORIS AND ALISHA FROM HOSPICE CARE WHO WERE SO WONDERFUL AND CARING DURING SHARON’S ILLNESS. A MEMORIAL MASS WILL BE CELEBRATED AT ST.

HEDWIG’S CHURCH, 32 GOLDEN HILL STREET, ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 26, 2019 AT 10:00 AM. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW IN GROVE CEMETERY.
