Shawn Marie Walberg, 52, of Nashua, MN, passed away at her residence on Saturday, February 23, 2019. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2019, at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 6 p.m., with Father Stan Wieser officiating.

Burial will take place at the Mandan Union Cemetery, Mandan North Dakota at a later date. Shawn was born in Bismarck, ND, on February 2, 1967, the daughter to Wayne and Sally (Fleck) Geiss. During her youth, she lived in Solen, ND, and Madison, MN.

In 1974, her family moved to West Fargo, ND, and in 1985, Shawn graduated from West Fargo High School. She continued her formal education at Rasmussen College in Moorhead, MN, and received her associated degree in business management. On July 27, 1987, Shawn was united in marriage to Michael Walberg in West Fargo.

They made their home in Fargo and were blessed with three children-Devin, Lyndsey, and Tyler. Her time in Fargo was spent working as a cook at West Fargo High School, North Dakota State University, Minnesota State University of Moorhead, and Edgewood Vista Retirement Home, Fargo. She was also highly interested in pyrotechnics, specifically with the Pyrotechnics Guild International.

Through this organization, Shawn helped design the well-known firework that bursts and displays a smiley face. Most recently, Shawn has resided in Nashua, MN. She met her significant other, Lance Anderson, three years ago at Dakota Magic Casino and they have been life companions ever since.

Shawn enjoyed going to the bowling alley, casino, and playing bingo. An average summer was comprised of trips to the lake where she enjoyed fishing, camping, and collecting rocks. Her family and friends will remember her for her beaming smile, magnetic personality, and generous heart.

Shawn is survived by her children, Devin Walberg and his children, Zephyr and Journee of Moorhead, MN, Lyndsey (Dana Krump) Walberg and their children, Loden and Konnor of Fargo, ND, and Tyler Walberg and his children Sofia and Jaxon of Fargo, ND; parents, Wayne and Sally Geiss of Hawley, MN; sister, Kerry (Jay) Schaan of Balta, ND; significant other, Lance Anderson of Nashua, MN; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Geiss, Jr. A celebration of life gathering will be held on July 4, 2019, at the farm in Nashua. Arrangements have been entrusted to Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge.
