Bates, age 36, of Middletown, OH, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday March 3, 2019. He was born , Middletown, OH, on June 28, 1982. He is survived by his father, Thomas “Tom” (Missy) Bates and his mother, Rita Bates; his daughters, Kayla Bates (and her mother Diane Jetter) & Laya Bates (and her mother Heather Bowen); his grandmother, Alice Campbell; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Shawn was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Gladys Bates-Kirby. A Memorial Service will be held 11:30 a.m., Saturday March 9, 2019, at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, 6506 Gillen Lane, Miamisburg, OH, with Pastor Donald Bateman officiating.
