Sheila Ann Cochran, a resident of Dothan, died Friday, June 22, 2018 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center Surrounded by her loving family. She was 64. Celebration of Life services will be held at a later date.

Ms. Sheila was born to the late Francis Clarence and Metha Vonceil Chalker. She knew at a very early age that her calling was nursing. She served the people in Henry County, Houston County, and the surrounding area for forty two years as a Registered Nurse.

After graduating in the second class of the Wallace College Nursing Program, she spent her first twelve years of her nursing career at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Ms. Cochran served the Henry County community for six years at Henry County Hospital. After the closing of Henry County Hospital she would spend the next ten years at Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She closed out her career when she retired in 2015 after fourteen years at Health South Rehabilitation Center. She was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church. Ms. Cochran was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her son, Jon Cochran; sister, Shirley McGowan (Tim); a niece, Brandi McGowan; a nephew, Corey McGowan (Candice); three great nephews, Logan McGowan, Brantley McGowan, and Sawyer McGowan; two special loving friends, Wendy Mitchell and Jennifer Fortson. Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Sheila Ann Cochran to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, Virginia 22202.
