Sherry Cheryl Mae Schmeling, July 04, 1946 — May 21, 2019

Sherry (Cheryl) Mae Schmeling, age 72, of Mandan, North Dakota, formerly of Beach, North Dakota, passed away in Mandan on Wednesday, May 21, 2019. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, May 27, 2019 at Silha Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Grace Evangelical Church in Beach with Pastor Ben Baker officiating.

Interment will take place at Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive, Montana. Silha Funeral Home of Beach has been entrusted with the arrangements. Sherry was born on July 4, 1946 in Glendive to Raymond and Vina (Nelson) Thrams.

She grew up in Wibaux, Montana and attended school there. In her junior year, she moved to White Sulfur Springs, Montana and graduated with the class of 1964. Sherry met Bob Schmeling at a dance in Golva, North Dakota in 1962.

They were later married on June 3, 1967 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Beach. After their marriage, they made their home in Beach, until she entered Miller’s Pointe in Mandan August 21, 2017. Sherry worked as a waitress at the Shamrock in Wibaux and the Dairy Queen in Beach.

She was also a caretaker for her friends Rachael Ganser and Evelyn Nelson. She enjoyed going to all of the sports activities of her children. Sherry and Bob bowled for several years and loved going to bowling tournaments.

She and Bob enjoyed going to dances and other community activities. Sherry was a mentor to everyone she worked with and could easily talk with them. She always had a smile on her face and brought joy to those around her.

Sherry was known as “Big Momma” to her children’s friends. Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Vina and a son, Jason. Sherry is survived by her husband Bob; a daughter, Tausha (Kaelen) Harrington of Mandan; two sons, Jessey (Karen) Schmeling of Bismarck and Jeff Schmeling of Beach and six grandchildren.
