OBITUARY Sherry Lutz Anderson January 21, 1955 – September 19, 2018 Dear Friends and Loved Ones, September 19, 2018 was another remarkable day in the Life of Sherry L. Anderson–Mother, great friend, Community Leader, Master Gardener, Triathlete, and Survivor. Today, Sherry left her place here with us on earth to begin her work with God and the universe. What a difference she made here.

What a difference she’ll make from her “new” place. Since Sherry’s arrival here on 1-21-55, the world has not been the same. Her beauty, smile, humor, passion for life and her “people”, was irrepressible.

Sherry popularized the phrase, “She lights up the room”. With her light she completed many accomplishments and brought joy to so many of us. Sherry took off at a young age as Miss Teenage Indiana.

Her smile and grace created a winner. Sherry will remain the undeclared “world champion” of Scrabble. Games of life of any kind held her interest and to win and enjoy was her objective.

A winner in life who enabled all who knew her, feel like a winner as well. As a licensed real estate broker for VIP, Sherry was responsible for the sales on many of the island properties. Sherry not only got things done, but everyone had fun helping her do whatever she was committed to.

She created two wonderful, talented, and loving daughters who she passionately taught to have respect for our planet and all its fascinating inhabitants. Sherry was the founding organizer of the Island Children Cooperative. The Co-op brought the dispersed families on the islands of Sanibel and Captiva together with events and babysitting.

It was a remarkable success for its time in the islands’ history. Sherry was also the founder of St. Isabel’s Day Care Center, a wonderful facility located at the church. As Treasurer of the Junior League of Fort Myers, she created the Environmental Committee which focused on clean water, air, and cloth grocery bags.

All this back in the early 1980’s–way before the “Green” movement. Sherry started the St. Michael School auction which, to this day, remains one of the most active and successful school fund raisers in the area. Bishop Verot High School also received her attention and generosity.

For Sherry, it was about the children, our future, and the planet. Her contributions continued with her challenge with cancer. Along with her dear friend, mentor, and advocate of 25 years, Dr. Madeleine Duvic, she became the first patient with CTCL lymphoma to survive a bone marrow transplant.

Sherry, along with an impressive medical team, participated in a number of early phase-one clinical trials. Bravely charging into the unknown, contributing to science and medicine. As part of this journey, Sherry facilitated and lead cancer support groups–unselfishly helping people in their most difficult and scary times.

Sherry is survived by her husband of 41 years, Mark, and her two daughters, Katie Andersson of Denver, Colorado and Kellie L. Anderson of Ashville, North Carolina. She is also survived by her brother John R. Lutz of Indianapolis, sister Susan Young also of Indianapolis, and brother James Lutz of Las Vegas. She is proceeded in death, by her father, Johnny K. Lutz, and mother Marian Lutz.

When you see a bright smile on anyone, a singing bird, or a leaping dolphin, think of Sherry. She lived with great energy and much joy. She is loved and will be dearly missed.

In appreciation and with much gratitude to all who have loved and supported Sherry and the Anderson Family during these many years, there will be a celebratory memorial at the Anderson home. Date to be determined, late October In lieu of flowers, please consider a generous donation to The CTCL Research Fund, Dr. Madeline Duvic, Dept.
