Widmer, 87 of Mendota passed away December 10, 2018 at Mendota Lutheran Home. Mass of Christian burial will be Friday at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Cross Church with Father Peter Pilon officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., in the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Shirley was born April 12, 1931 in Dimmick to Raymond and Mary (O’Connell) Munroe. She married Robert Widmer June 6, 1953 in Mendota.

Shirley was a member of Holy Cross Church. She owned and operated Widmer and Sons Dealership with her husband and The Grapevine Women’s Clothing Store both in Mendota. She was a member of the Mendota Moose Lodge, Mendota Elks Lodge, Mendota VFW Post 4079, and the Knights of Columbus.

She is survived by two sons Rick (Robin) Widmer of Camdenton, MO. and Rob Widmer of Mendota; one sister Florence (John) McConville of Earlville; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband in 2005, three daughters Mary Beth, Catherine and Patrice, and one son Jim.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
