Obituary for Shirley Anne Carpenter Shirley Anne Carpenter, 82, of Tucson, Arizona, formerly of Salem, Massachusetts, passed away Friday evening, May 4, 2018, in Tucson, Arizona after a long illness. Born in Salem, Mass, July 4, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Joseph and Irene Elizabeth (McIntyre) Lynch. While raising her family of 8 children, Shirley returned to school, and in 1973 graduated Es Agricultural & Technical School as a Surgical Technician.

She began her employment in the field at Lynn Union Hospital and later transitioned to running central surgical supply for the hospital. She finished her career with Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester. In 1999, while enjoying retirement, Shirley, and her daughter Cheryl, made their way west to Tucson, Arizona.

She is survived by sons, Kenneth of Washington, George Robert, Jr., Brian of Massachusetts, and Anthony (Diana) of Phoenix, AZ. ; daughters, Irene Hufnagel (Robert) of Maryland, Cheryl of Tucson, AZ. , Sheila of Peabody, MA.

, and Peggy Chapman (Frank) of Salem, MA. ; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brother Harold Francis Lynch and sisters, Mary Dorothy Lynch, Helen Jones, Mary Greenlay, Teresa Catalano and Margaret “Peggy” Lynch.

As per her wishes, there are no services scheduled. She donated herself to Science Care immediately following her passing. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of one’s choice.
