Shirley Higham Gunnison, UT Shirley Eunice Clement Higham, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away, at age 91, on March 16, 2019, in Gunnison, Utah. She was born on May 30, 1927 to Alma Levor Clement and Maudie Frances Kearnes in Gunnison. She attended local schools and graduated from Gunnison High School in 1945.

Mter graduation, she worked for a time at Christensen’s Department Store in Gunnison. At a ward function, Mom met DelMar Albert Higham. They dated for four years, and on May 23, 1949, Mom and Dad were married in the Manti Temple for time and all eternity.

Both Mom and Dad had a love for music and she accompanied him on the piano many times during their marriage as he sang for funerals and other civic events. She was the accompanist for the Primary and Relief Society Organizations for many years. DelMar preceded her in death on October 23, 2011.

Mom’s greatest accomplishment was her children. She had nine children, whom she nurtured and raised with love and a lot of patience. Her children, Eugene, Marianne, Lynn, Leslie, Jolene, JanaLee, Edmond, Jerold, and DelMarie can attest to her loving nature and unconditional love she had shown to each of them.

She spent endless hours tending to the needs of her grandchildren by tending them while their parents worked, and was always ready with food if she thought you were hungry. If there was one work to describe Mom, that word would be charity. Mom had a love of the gospel and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She had a love and knowledge of the Savior and was a great example to her children and her 34 grandchildren and 55 great -grandchildren. Mom was a faithful visiting teacher and cared about the ladies whom she served. She will always be loved and missed and we know she is having a wonderful reunion with those who have passed on before.

Mom is survived by her children: Eugene (Maureen), North Logan; Marianne Haleen, Gunnison; Lynn (Kathleen), American Fork; Leslie, Centerfield; Jolene (Burke) Willardson, Redmond; Jana Lee (Edmund) Young, Gunnison; Edmond (Deanna), South Jordan; Jerold (Wendy), Ogden; DelMarie (Kenneth, deceased) Greenburg, Stansbury Park; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Verna Kofford of Pleasand Grove, Utah.
