Shirley Jean Martie November 01, 1944 – February 26, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Shirley Jean Martie, 74, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:10 A.M., Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the Du Quoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Shirley had been an assembly line worker at Gilster-Mary Lee for ten years. She was also a former employee of Fair Acres Nursing Home.

Shirley was of the Protestant faith. She graduated from Elverado High School in 1962. Shirley was a member fo the Du Quoin Eagles Lodge.

She was born November 1, 1944 at Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of James Arthur and Lulu Venita (Hargett) Martie. She is survived by one son – Larry Voyles and Dave of St. Louis, MO, two daughters – Amy Voyles and Vickie McDaniel, both of Du Quoin, one brother – Charles Martie and wife Judy of Dowell, one sister-in-law – Antoinette Martie of Murphysboro, grandchildren – Brice and Allison Voyles of Mt. Vernon, Kesha Eaton of Du Quoin, Lacey Williams and Gary Doerflein of Du Quoin, Adam Williams of Du Quoin, Brandon and Christina Elder of Du Quoin, Jesse and Amanda Elder of Elkville, Aaron Elder of Du Quoin and Jennifer Elder of St. Louis, MO, seventeen great grandchildren, and five nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son-in-law – William McDaniel and one brother – Edward Martie. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M., Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. A family eulogy will be conducted at 7:00 P.M., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Cremation rites will be accorded after the service. Burial will be at a later date at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin. Friends may make memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
