Shirley L. Delaney of East Moline, Illinois November 17, 1924 – April 29, 2019 Shirley L. Delaney, age 94, of East Moline, IL. and formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2019. She was born in Braidwood, IL.

on November 17, 1924 to Lee and Inez (Huston) Simmons. She served her country honorably in the United States Navy as a nurse. Shirley married Edward Delaney on July 6, 1946 in Riverside, IL.

She worked various jobs over the years including an on the ground stewardess at Midway Airport in Chicago and at the Johnson and Johnson facility in Wilmington. An active lady, she enjoyed bowling, playing golf, cards and bingo. She was a loving grandmother and enjoyed having her grandchildren spend time with her.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Joe) Schultz of Moline; two sons, Kevin Delaney of Murray, KY. and Dennis (Raette) Delaney of Columbia, Mo. ; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a brother, Roy (Janet) Robb of Shorewood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward Delaney in 1994; her sisters Doris Hack and Ruth Jacklin and her brothers Robert Simmons and Harry Robb. At her request, cremation rites have been accorded. A private family memorial service with full military honors will held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
