Shirley’s Obituary March 6, 2019, our Lord and Savior called Shirley Lee Edwards home. She was the third child born to Mary Lee and Robert Parker Sr. on August 12, 1949. Shirley was a lifelong resident of the Magnolia Grove community.

She accepted the Lord at an early age and attended church until her health began to fail. She attended 33rd Avenue High School. She honed her skills in the restaurant industry and worked diligently for the Gulfport School District.

She enjoyed cooking, crafting, gardening, and had a passion and love for a variety of flowers. Shirley’s feisty demeanor was ever present. She was known to often have a household full of sweets and was willing to share.

She was also known around the community as the “Dixie Cup Lady”. She was devoted to her one and only son, affectionately known as “Tee”. She will be greatly missed.

We loved her, but God loved her best. Preceding her in death is her husband, Mr. Willie Earl Edwards; one son, George Lewis; her parents, Robert and Mary Parker; and one sister, Catherine Newkirk. Shirley leaves to cherish her memory, three sisters, Betty Garner, of Lynwood, California, Verna Campbell and Lois Parker, of Gulfport, Mississippi; two brothers, Robert Parker, Jr. and Don Parker, both of Gulfport, Mississippi; one brother-in-law, Hermes Newkirk, of Gulfport, Mississippi; two aunts, Minnie Williams, of Gulfport, Mississippi, Evelyn Williams, of Wichita Falls, Texas; seven grandchildren, Kyra Lewis, George Lewis, Halle Lewis, Alex Lewis, Brandon Lewis, Jasmine Lewis, Khadesja Lewis, and a host of great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
