OBITUARY Shirley Mae Blodgett October 3, 1936 – October 19, 2018 SKOWHEGAN – Shirley M. (Gibbs) Blodgett, 82, went to be with her lord and savior on Friday, October 19, 2018 after a long illness. She was born on October 3, 1936 in Oakland the daughter of Arthur and Ruth (Knight) Gibbs. Shirley worked at local shoe factories and at Arbor Acres hen plant.

After retiring, she worked as a private housekeeper and volunteer for Cedar Ridge and Meals on Wheels. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Earlon A. Blodgett; daughter, Naomi C. (Blodgett) and her husband Raymond Akers; infant son, Glenwood A. Blodgett; sister Lorraine Heald and several other brothers and sisters. Shirley is survived by her children, David E. Blodgett and his wife Deanna, Wayne L. Blodgett and his wife Alicia, Blaine A. Blodgett and his wife Deborah, Kathy M. Austin, and Eugene A. Blodgett (her long-time caregiver); brother, Bruce Gibbs and his wife Lou; 10 grandchildren, Darrell, Dave, John, Benjamin, Heidi, Christopher, Steve, Kenneth, Brandon and Joshua; 11 great grandchildren, Katlyn, Mason, Chloe, Johnny, Ethan, Kiana, Kaylee, Cierrah, Joshua T., Caleb, and Hunter; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visiting hours will be held from 5-8pm, Thursday, October 25, at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave. , Skowhegan. A funeral service will be held at 11am, Friday, October 26, at Skowhegan Federated Church, 13 Island Ave.

, Skowhegan with Rev. Mark K. Tanner officiating. Interment will follow at East Skowhegan Cemetery.
