Obituary for Shirley (Ruehling) Streily Age 86 of Crafton Heights, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Holding the hand of her youngest son, Bernie, Jr., and having had one last smile with her precious grandson, Aidan who made sure his Grammie had a real pumpkin before beginning her heavenly journey, because Halloween was one of her favorite holidays. For Shirley the idea that you can and should be anything you want to be, was not just Halloween advice; it was how she lived her life.

Over the years, Shirley shared secrets with her daughter, allowing her to carry on many family traditions. She encouraged and supported her children to retreat to the Colorado mountains to find their spiritual compass; to live a hermits life in a library to discover their profession; and to let their love create children dedicated to making the world a better place. Wife of 65 years to the late Bernard Paul Streily, Sr.; mother of Cheryl (Milan) Vukelich, Michael (Denise) Streily, Bernard, Jr. (Denise) Streily; grandmother of Jascint (Erica) Vukelich, Chad Benjamin (Karen) Vukelich, Aidan Streily; and great-grandmother to Talia, Callie and Malena Vukelich; sister of Darlene Yurochko and the late William Ruehling; and devoted niece Tina Davison; also loved by cherished creatures, Roxxy and Jossi.

Shirley was blessed with great friends and wishes to thank in particular, the guardian angels who brought such kindness and care to the last 14 months she spent without the loving companion of her husband. Donna Courtney, Maureen Hoover, Randy and Carol Stasney, Darlene Yurochko (sister), Carol Gomberg, Steve and Joyce Zamiska, Jim and Ruthie Walker, Petey DeMatty, Audrey Kuhn and Thelma Creehan. She will be sorely missed by all.
