OBITUARY Sophie Ellingson September 26, 1923 – January 4, 2018 Sophie (Chanchuck) Ellingson – of Marshfield, formerly of Scituate entered into God’s loving hands on January 4, 2019 after a brief illness at the age of 95. She was born on September 26, 1923 to the late John and Julia (Jaroslvwska) Chanchuck and was raised there with her brothers and sisters who all predeceased her. She eloped with and married the love of her life, Oliver Ellingson, on August 13, 1941.

The two resided together for many years in North Dakota, where they began their family. They moved to Massachusetts to be close to family. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and lived in Scituate for many years before moving to Marshfield.

She loved spending time with all of her grandchildren and doing word search puzzles. She was the devoted mother of Judy Cavanagh and her husband George of Scituate, Harold Glen Ellingson of Wyoming, Steven Ellingson and his wife Mary of Marshfield, Dawn Willis and her husband Brad of Plymouth, Michael Elllingson of Plymouth and the late Shirley Lee Roberts. Cherished grandmother to 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral at the Christ Lutheran Church, 460 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Scituate on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 11 AM. Immediately following, she will be laid to rest beside her late husband at Cudworth Cemetery.

Visitating Hours Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 2-5 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
