Stanley Eugene Abram was born in Jewell County, KS, on January 25, 1935. He was the fifth, and youngest, child of Albert and Elsie LaRue Abram. He lived the first ten years of his life on “the Postlethwaite place” southwest of Jewell and attended school at the Couch school.

In 1945, his family moved north of Jewell and he began attending Jewell public schools. He graduated from Jewell Rural High School in 1953 and attended classes at Fort Hays State University until he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany in 1954-55.

When he returned from the service, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Wheat on December 16, 1956. The couple lived in Salina for their first year of marriage, while Stan attended Brown Mackie Business College. After his graduation, they returned to Jewell where he worked as assistant manager, and then manager of the Jewell Elevator.

Stan and Carolyn had three daughters. One of Stan’s pet peeves was the assumption that he was disappointed each time a daughter was born, rather than a son. In 1974, Stan left the elevator to farm in partnership with Otis Clark.

He continued to farm through 2017. Stan loved to sing! Barbershop music was his favorite.

He sang in the Beloit Barbershop Chorus, various quartets, and the North Central Kansas Christian Choir. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s ball games. He was a member of the Jewell Christian Church and Trinity United Methodist church.

Family was important to Stan. He enjoyed many Sunday dinners and holiday celebrations with his sisters and their families. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Elsie Abram, two sisters, Pauline Reiter and Bernice Reames, and three brothers-in-law/friends, Arnold Reiter, Armon Reames and Gene Butts.

He is survived by his sister, June Butts, Beloit; brother, Willis, Jacksonville, FL; three daughters, Teri (Clay) Henningsen, Beloit; Tami (Dave) Erwin, Verdon, NE; and Deb Wilson, Jewell; seven grandchildren, Todd (Gloria) Henningsen, Edinburg, TX; Casey (Tracy) Konda, Louisburg, KS; Mitchell (Whitney) Erwin, Kansas City, MO; Amanda Erwin, Kansas City, KS; Wade Wilson, Jewell; Ashton (Ryan) Cates, Jewell; Ali (Brett) Ernst, Jewell; Lane Wilson, Jewell; ten great-grandchildren plus one expected soon; and two great-great-grandchildren. Memorials will go to the Wallace Cemetery Board or Jewell Christian Church.
