Stanley J.’s Obituary Stanley Benes was born on April 2, 1922, on the family farm three miles East and one half mile North of Agnew, to Edward John and Anna (Kralik) Benes and passed away on January 30, 2019, in Lincoln at the age of 96 years, 9 months and 28 days. Stanley grew up North of Agnew where he attended Busy Bee Country School and later graduated from Raymond High School with the Class of 1941. On November 25, 1946, Stanley was united in marriage to Henrietta Jirovsky at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Bee.

The couple was blessed with nine children. Stanley and Henrietta farmed in the Dwight area and lived on the same farm for the last 69 years. Stanley also worked at Olson Construction building homes in the Air Park community.

Stanley was a self taught electrician; he did a lot of electrical work in the Bee and Dwight communities over the years. Along with farming, Stanley was a dealer for Archer Oil for 65 years and a dealer for Pfister Hybrids for over 10 years. Stanley and Hernietta milked cows for many years, selling the milk and cream.

He still owns the 1947 Model “B” tractor that he bought brand new. Stanley was a longtime member of Assumption Catholic Church where he helped with Bingo and also served as a church trustee. He was an avid Husker sports fan and enjoyed watching golf on t.v. Stanley enjoyed listening to Sunday Morning Polka and KFOR.

He always loved watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, The Price is Right and Let’s Make a Deal. He and Henrietta loved dancing. She enjoyed the Polkas and he enjoyed the Waltzes.

They both cherished their family time with the kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but most of all they loved the holidays including Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. In Stanley’s 96 years of life, he had seen so many changes from the horse and buggy that he took to school to owning his own cell phone and having a facebook account. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Henrietta (2015), infant daughter, Andrea; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; sister and brother-in-law, Lillian Potter and husband, Richard C.; two brothers and sister-in-law, Lawrence Benes, Andrew and wife, Lucille Benes.

He is survived by nine children: Bernard Benes of Bee, NE, Suzanne and husband Dennis Schlake, Lincoln, NE, Jane and husband Steve Rezac, Brainard, NE, Joan and husband Dr. Francis Ekstein, Ulysses, NE, Benedict Benes, Brainard, NE, Gerald Benes and wife Julie, Seward, NE, Patrick Benes and wife Ann, Dwight, NE, Roger Benes and wife Janice, Winterset, IA, Dwayne Benes, Bee, NE; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ivan and wife Jane Benes, Edwin and wife Sally Benes, Raymond and wife Barbara Benes; three sisters-in-law, Bernadette Prochaska, Margie Benes, Lorraine Jirovsky; 24 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 6 step-great grandchildren and his special paw pets, Jennie and Brandy.
