OBITUARY Stanley Newton Vaughan Jr. September 6, 1925 – January 26, 2019 Stanley N. Vaughan, Jr., 93, of Cape Coral, FL, died January 26, 2019 at Cape Coral Hospital. He was born September 6, 1925 in Parkersburg, WV. Son of the late Stanley N. and Rowena Cherrington Vaughan.

He attended schools in Parkersburg, graduating from Parkersburg High School in 1943. He attended Adelbert College of Western Reserve University, where he was in the Beta Theta Pi fraternity, University of Kentucky, North Carolina State University, both while in the army, and graduated with honors from the Pittsburgh College of Mortuary Science. He married Kathleen “Kacki” West, December 1, 1944 in Alamogordo, NM.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp with 18 missions over Japan as a tail gunner on a B-29 bomber. He was a licensed funeral director and embalmer in West Virginia and Ohio, and was president and owner of the Vaughan Funeral Home in Parkersburg from 1972 to 1990. He was a past president of the West Virginia Funeral Directors Assn.

While in Parkersburg he was a member of the Parkersburg Country Club, American Legion, Elks, Moose, VFW and the Preferred Funeral Directors Int’l. Retiring in 1990 he and his wife Kacki moved to Cape Coral, FL. He was a member of the Faith Presbyterian Church, the Palmetto Pine Country Club, a life member of Elks Lodge 2596, a life member of American Legion Post 90, and a life member of VFW Post 8463.

In addition to his wife of 74 years, he is also survived by 2 sons, Stan [Nancy] Vaughan of Scottsdale, AZ, Dr. Andrew [Amy] Vaughan of Charleston, WV, and a daughter, Judith [Blair] Thompson of Lewistown, PA. 3 Grandsons, Zachary, Dr. Jason, and Chad Vaughan, 4 great-grandsons, Brandon, Nicholas, Vincent, and Nathan, 1 great-granddaughter, Rebecca, and brother, Frederick [Barbara] Vaughan of Lexington, VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Vance Kevin Vaughan and sister, Susan Williams.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 at Faith Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. H Timothy Halverson officiating.

A family only committal service will be at the Coral Ridge Cemetery. Friends wishing to send a remembrance are suggested to make a donation to Faith Presbyterian Church, Cape Coral, FL, or Hope Hospice, Fort Myers, FL.
