Stephenie Ann Welch, 67, died on June 26, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 9, 1950 in Tacoma, Washington, the second of three children. Her father was in the US Air Force and she grew up living primarily in Hawaii, Okinawa, and Washington state.

She loved incorporating food from her childhood growing up in Hawaii and Okinawa. No one ever went hungry in her house. One of her greatest joys was having the family gathered together around the dinner table, enjoying wonderful food.

Stephenie and Larry have six children. In 2002, Lucy, the family’s beloved golden retriever joined the family and quickly became Stephenie’s best friend. As Stephenie’s health declined in later years, Lucy lifted Stephenie’s spirits and sustained her through her struggles.

Stephenie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in a variety of callings throughout her life in the Relief Society and Young Women’s organizations. For the last three years, she served as a Welfare Service Missionary at the Bishop’s Storehouse in Kent, a local food bank operated by her church.

She always greeted guests with a smile. She loved serving others in whatever capacity she could. She had a unique ability to make others feel special and loved.

Stephenie is survived by her husband, Larry, their children Chris (Amy) Welch (Kent, WA), Juliette (Brandon) Mitchell (Kent, WA), Bryon (Kristin) Welch (Boise, ID), Kevin (Maria) Welch (Albuquerque, NM), Adam Welch (Seattle, WA), her eleven grandchildren: Parker, Porter, Maxwell, Tess, Wendy, Emma, Owen, Jackson, Sara, Sofia, Lincoln, and her sister Debra Cupples. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Juliette and Edward Burlem Jr., her son Baby Larry, her brother Edward Burlem III, and her puppy Lucy. A funeral service will be held to celebrate her life at 11am, on Monday, July 2, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 12817 SE 256th St Kent, Washington.
