A funeral service for Steve Goodman, age 54, of Ponta is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 2, 2019 at the Wallace-Thompson Chapel with Rev. Thomas Crouch officiating. Burial will follow at Old Palestine Cemetery.

Mr. Goodman passed away May 29, 2019 at a Tyler hospital. He was born November 11, 1964 in Liberty, TX and was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County. Mr. Goodman was Pastor at the First Baptist Church in Ponta and loved his church family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Hughes Goodman and a sister, Brenda Sulser. He is survived by his mother, Sue Goodman of Ponta, two brothers and sister-in-law, Gary Goodman of Ponta, Wayne and Lisha Goodman of Tyler, TX several nieces and nephews including Alyssa Porto and husband Eric of Bullard, Jermiah and Jedediah Goodman and Camryn Gray of Tyler, Chrissy Crockett and husband Eddie of Tennessee Colony, TX, Bonnie Soto of Alto, TX, Jason Sulser of San Augustine, TX and several loving church families. Men of First Baptist Church Ponta will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the funeral home. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Steve Goodman please visit our Sympathy Store.
