OBITUARY Steven Eugene Aldridge Sr. May 24, 1947 – January 6, 2019 A Man Of His Word And Known For His Character To His Family And Friends… Steven Eugene Aldridge, Sr., age 71, passed away on Sunday ~ January 6, 2019 at the Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina. Steven loved just sitting on his back porch and enjoying the view. He worked for and retired from Unitherm for 24 years as an insulator.

His children are going to miss his telephone calls and the advice he gave to them. He was always there for them and others. Steven served honorably in the North Carolina Army National Guard for 7 years.

He will be missed greatly by his family and friends. Those left behind to cherish Steven’s memories and carry on his legacy are his wife Martha Harrison Aldridge of Mount Holly, North Carolina; daughter: Michelle Aldridge of Gastonia, North Carolina; three sons: Stephen Eugene Aldridge, Jr. (Ida Parker) of Gastonia, North Carolina, Michael Aldridge (Tina) of Mount Holly, North Carolina, David Aldridge (Ashley) of Mount Holly, North Carolina, Daniel Povey of Lincolnton, North Carolina; sister and brother in law: Diane and Danny Carlisle of Belmont, North Carolina; brother and sister in law: Clarence and Brenda Aldridge, Jr. of Belmont, North Carolina; sister in law: Melva Aldridge (wife of Robert Aldridge) of Dallas, North Carolina; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive. Steven was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Brenda Rayfield Aldridge.

He was the son of the late Clarence Walter Aldridge, Sr. and Ruth Johnson Aldridge. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and sister in law: Jake and Judy Aldridge along with Robert Aldridge. A Life Well Celebrated Ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday ~ January 12, 2019 in the Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina with Reverend James Messer, Sr. and Reverend Clarence Aldridge, Jr. delivering words of comfort and hope to Steven’s family and friends.

Active pallbearers are Paul Aldridge, Jody Aldridge, Daryl Carlisle, John Lee, Michael Wensel, Derrick Warren and Jerry Hendren. Graveside and committal service with Military Honors accorded by the United States Army and Gaston County Honor Guard will be held in the War Memorial Garden at Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 South New Hope Road, Gastonia, North Carolina. The family will receive guests from 12:00 PM ~ 2:00 PM prior to the service.
