Stewart Marshall Johnson November 10, 1959 – November 25, 2018 Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card Stewart Marshall Johnson, 59 was born to Natalie Baker and Willie Stewart Johnson, Jr. on November 10, 1959. On the 25th of November 2018, our dearly beloved Stewart gained his wings and departed from this earth for the Heavens. He was preceded in death by his mother Natalie; and his newborn son, Joshua (days old).

As he was loved and adored by many, he was affectionately nicked named according to the character in which people often seen him as. He was often called “Jose Wells, referred to as the “Mayor,” Banana Man, and adorably so, “Poppa Bear”! Poppa Bear always lead his pack with dignity and respect for everyone.

He considered his children, Nadia Carter and Jason Johnson of Huntington his greatest gifts. He had a special way of rejuvenating his surroundings with positivity and encouragement. He believed in everyone’s gifted talent.

Stewart served honorably amongst the “Few Good Men” as a proud Marine for four years. Because Stewart was fascinated with working with his hands, he was a phenomenal construction and union worker for many years. He was the one called on to get the job done to the highest level of perfection.

Being outdoors was where he was most comfortable fishing, hunting, building, working on cars and most of all, meeting new faces and accepting people for who they were regardless of their situation. Many of his friends we gained not face to face as we all know to be the most common way to meet a friend, but over the voice of a CB. “Banana Man and Jose Wells” was a “Nation Wide Rider” who traveled many states and highways by voice developing friendships.

He had the most loving and giving heart and would do anything for anyone even by just the use of his voice. Poppa Bear loved his family dearly. He served his family honorably as he protected, guided, and strengthened them.

He was like iron sharpening iron when it came to his family. His strength came from the strength he effortlessly gave to his family. Everyone was special to him.

His spirit will shine bright under the stars as he leaves his legacy of love to be forever cherished: daughter, Nadia; son, Jason; beloved best friend and confidant, the mother of his children, Vickie Carter; younger siblings: Kimberly, Michael (Rose), Ryan (Theresa); granddaughter, Nautica Carter; great-granddaughter, Aaliyah Fisher; nephew, Ryan II (Cierra); niece, Tamika and many more cousins, great nieces and nephews, family members, friends on top of friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon, Friday, November 30, 2018 at Real Life Christian Center with Bishop Charles Shaw, officiating. Family will welcome friends at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, WV.

Online condolences may be expressed to the family below. FC18-142 John 7:38 reads “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water”. Stewart began his new journey a believer.

He now rests with Our Father who art in Heaven. May he rest peacefully under the green pastures. O Heavenly Father how we thank you for our encounter with the wonderful spirit of Stewart Marshall Johnson!
