Susan Curtiss Oakes, 88, of Whitehall, passed away May 12th 2019 into the loving arms of Jesus. She married Ray Oakes on June 16th, 1956 and was a home economics teacher in the Northview School System for 30 years until her retirement in 1990. They moved full time to their cottage on beautiful Lake Michigan in 1996 where they made life-long friends and were known for their hospitality and happy hours.

She had a heart of gold and loved spending time on the beach, hanging out with friends and most of all her family, especially her granddaughters Kelly and Emily. She is survived by her brother Tom (Diane) Curtiss of Eagle River WI, son Tom (Kathy) Oakes of Montague and granddaughters Kelly Oakes (Cam McNany) and Emily Oakes (Eric Wehr). She was preceded in death by her husband Ray and her son Greg.

A celebration of life will be held in August with the date yet to be determined.
