Susan M. Gioiella, age 67, of Sylvania, OH, passed away on December 14, 2018, surrounded by her family. Susan was born December 30, 1950, daughter of the late Joseph and Eileen Bauderer, and sister to Nancy (Robert) Knuepfer. Susan graduated from York High School in 1969 and attended Bowling Green State University, receiving her Bachelor of Education in 1973 and Masters in 1999.

Throughout her tenure, she was a second grade teacher, Founder and Director of the Higher Ground Gifted Program, Founder and Director of the Eagles Nest Preschool, Curriculum Director, and Elementary School Principal.
Susan is survived by her husband of 45 years, Louis Gioiella; children, Julie (Robert) Van Cott, Joseph (Jerusha) Gioiella, Anthony (Angela) Gioiella, and Stephen (Sarah) Gioiella; grandchildren, Jack, Joshua, Lydia, Breena, Mason, Alyssa, Ava, Ashton, and Aiden. Susan passionately studied God’s Word throughout her life, and lived those principles on a daily basis. She enjoyed spending time with family and watching her children and grandchildren grow, learn, and discover their own pursuits.
Susan loved creativity and spent much of her time in her art studio. She drew and painted, journaled, planned, and enjoyed sharing her creations with her family. Susan was an avid reader of both professional publications, children’s books, and fiction.
Visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. , Toledo on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 1:00 – 8:00 pm. A funeral service will take place at Westgate Chapel, 2500 Wilford Dr., Toledo on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm.
