Susan Helen Smith (nee Wind), 71, died Monday December 17, 2018 surrounded by her children. She has lovingly reunited with her husband Ray in heaven. She leaves behind her children Raymond Michael Smith Jr., Dennis Allen Smith (Julie nee Brewer), Gregory Jon Smith (Linda nee Stockman), and Michelle Lynn Smith (Luis Velazquez); grandchildren Nathan Daniel Smith, Anthony Michael Tuley, Angelica Wind Smith, Fiona Anne Smith, Alexander Luis Velazquez, Zayden Karlos Velazquez, Elias Raymond Velazquez; Sisters Natalie Genovese (Don), Marjorie Kwasny, Janet (John) Mateyko, Beverly Wilson (Dan), Alice Wind; Brothers George Wind (Patricia), James Wind; Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Susan was born on November 9, 1947 in Hammond, IN. She spent her life in the Chicagoland area. Married on Valentine’s Day in 1970, she and Ray lived first in Roseland and then moved to Lansing where they raised their family.

Later they moved to Beecher. As a mother, Sue was very involved with her kids’ lives and activities. She loved being a wife and mother and found even more joy in becoming a grandmother.

Susan is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Michael Smith, their daughter Kimberly Anne Smith, and her parents George and Catherine (nee Lynch) Wind. Visitation and prayer service will be Saturday, December 22 from noon-4pm at Zion Lutheran Church, 540 Oak Park Ave, Beecher, IL 60401. Funeral Service will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Covenant Enabling Residences of Illinois 15841 Terrace Drive Oak Forest, IL 60452.
