Susan Marguerite Rollins December 02, 1923 – January 23, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Susan Marguerite Schumacher Rollins, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 in Oxford, Ohio at 95 years old. Born in Dayton, Ohio to Marguerite and Ray V. Schumacher on December 2, 1923, she was an alumna of Bexley High School ‘42 and Smith College ‘46 and earned a master’s degree in microbiology from The Ohio State University in 1948. She did research with Dr. Albert Sabin, the developer of the oral polio vaccine, at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and worked in the University of Iowa Microbiology and Pathology laboratories.

Susan married Robert Rumer Rollins in 1949 and raised three children in Iowa City, Iowa. Preceded in death by her husband and her brother, Ray V. Schumacher, Jr., she is survived by her three children and their spouses, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. She loved chocolate, Dove bars, knowledge, and her family more than anything else.

To celebrate our mother’s life, have some chocolate, share an interesting article with a friend and tell your family how much you love them. There will be a family graveside service in Iowa City, Iowa at a later date.
