Obituary for Sylvia Helen Elder Sylvia Helen Jolly Elder, age 85, of Taylorsville passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born to the late Wade and Sophie Looper Jolly in Alexander County on Thursday, October 27, 1932. Sylvia was a member of Millersville Baptist Church.

She enjoyed flowers, beach trips, and her grandchildren above all. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years; Walter “Bud” Maurice Elder, one brother; Willard Jolly, and two sons; Richard and David Elder. Those left to cherish her memory include her five children; Judy Chaney of Taylorsville, Doris Royal of North Wilkesboro, Curtis Elder of Statesville, Linda Coffey of Hickory, and Benny Elder of Taylorsville, five grandchildren; Shane Childers of Taylorsville, Mark Royal and Crystal Nichols of North Wilkesboro, Justin Coffey of Durham, and Erin McConnell of Hickory, eight great- grandchildren, sisters; Emily Elder of Taylorsville and Janice Bowman of Hickory, one brother; Wade Jolly Jr. of Hickory, with a number of nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Alexander Funeral Service from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm. The Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 pm with the Rev. Gary Jennings officiating.
