Obituary of Sylvia Bowman Sylvia Jean Bowman, born December 4, 1942, passed away at her home, surrounded by family on November 4, 2018. Sylvia never went anywhere without being dressed to impress. She was a true lover of all things pink, hearts, westerns and Elvis, but what she loved more than anything was her family.

She enjoyed sewing pajamas, costumes and horse show western shirts for her family, and her annual tradition of baking Christmas cookies with her family. Also known for her faith and love of her church, Mars Hill Baptist Church. She is survived by daughters Cathy Wilkerson (Rocky), Karen Beneville (Danny), Lisa Hall, and son David “Lin” Hall, Jr. (Claudia), grandchildren Brock Wilkerson (Wendy), Brittany Johnson (Marc), Danielle Beneville, Lindsey Hall, Brandon Beneville, and Blake Hall; great grandchildren Allie and Ava Wilkerson and Wade Johnson; sisters Dot Whicker, Maryann Ghantt and Linda Barbee, nieces, nephews and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Hicks, her father John Bowman; brother Jimmy Hicks, and sisters Rosalee Lane and Shirley Martin. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday in Mars Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be 12:30-1:45 PM Wednesday in the church. At other times the family will be at Karen and Danny Beneville’s home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mars Hill Baptist Church, 1418 NC Hwy.
