Terryl “Smitty” Schmidt August 15, 1949 – March 18, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Terryl K. Schmidt, 69, also known as Smitty, ended his battle with congestive heart failure, March 18, 2019. He was in Sherman, TX with his family by his side. Terry was born on August 15, 1949 in Liberal, Kansas to Theophile “Teaf” and Clara Schmidt.

He was a longtime resident of Hooker, Oklahoma until 2016 when Terry moved to Lake Texoma, Kingston, OK to live closer to the water and his children. Terry was known for his bravery in serving our country in the Vietnam War and was known around town as a “Ford man”. He loved drag racing the streets of Hooker.

Terry was actively involved in classic car restoration, and he was also involved with the Hooker Car Show, an event in which he was very proud, until he relocated. He is survived by his son, Tyson Theophile and wife Tobi Schmidt of Rowlett, TX; daughter, Mindy Knight of Rowlett, TX; one grandson, Sebastian Schmidt of Garland, TX; great-granddaughter, Emory Schmidt of Garland, TX; brother, Anthony and wife Tammy Schmidt of Georgetown, TX ; nephew, Christopher Schmidt of Frisco, TX, ex-wife/caretaker/friend, Marilyn Schmidt and husband Sam Collins of Rowlett, TX. Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at the Hooker Cemetery.

The viewing and family visitation will be held Thursday, March 21st from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma Memorial are suggested to the Hooker American Legion and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma 73945.
