Westfield-Thelma Irene (Gasper) Lacombe, 96, died Saturday, May 4, 2019 at home, surrounded by family and loving caregivers. She was born in Westfield on August 19, 1922 to the late Frank J. and Myrtle A. (Loveridge) Gasper. She grew up in Westfield attended local schools and was a 1940 graduate of Westfield High School.

She was the head of the credit department for Stanley Home Products for many years. Thelma also worked for the Pleasant Street Market and Hearn Furniture Co She was an avid dancer with Fred Astaire and competed in many dance competitions.

She also enjoyed traveling, bingo, playing scrabble, reading, puzzles and scratching lottery tickets. She was a member of the Swingles Square Dancing Club and the Daughters of Isabella. Thelma was pre-deceased by her husband Joseph E. Lacombe in 1971.

She leaves her son Paul F. Lacombe and his wife Susan-Manning-Lacombe of Candia, NH, her daughter Laurie Lacombe Berry and Richard Doulette of Westfield, her grandson Joseph M. Doulette of Westfield, many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Dusti and cat Smokey. The funeral for Thelma will be held on Saturday, May 11th at 9 am from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 4-7 pm. Donations in memory of Thelma may be made to the Westfield Regional Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, Westfield, MA 01085.
