Obituary for Thelma I Johnson Johnson, Thelma I., age 89 of Mounds View, passed away June 15, 2018. Preceded in death by her husband, Earl; brothers, Gordon, Larry and Howard Lawman; grandson, Noah Johnson; daughter-in-law, Susan Johnson; and brother-in-law, George Acko. Survived by sons, Jay (Carol), Randy (Kristin), Kevin (LuAnn) and Brian (Phuong Kim); 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Melwin (Joyce) Lawman; sisters-in-law, Ethel Acko and Dolores “Toots” Lawman (Bob); and many nieces and nephews.

Thelma enjoyed going to the family cabin on Ann Lake all of her life. Her greatest joy was family; especially, the early years of her grandchildren. She loved telling stories growing up with her brothers in Minneapolis.

She married her high school sweetheart, Earl, in 1949. Together they owned a hardware store in Humboldt, Iowa. In 1984 Earl and Thelma moved back to Minneapolis and worked in retail until retirement.

Thelma was an active member of Community Methodist Church, particularly in children’s ministry. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 18, with visitation one hour prior at Community United Methodist Church, 950 Gould Ave. NE, Columbia Heights.
