Theodore Kepes Jr. May 16, 1966 – April 27, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Theodore “Ted” Kepes Jr., professor and author, was called up to heaven on April 27th, 2019, following a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 52 years old. Ted is survived by his son Aidan, his parents Theodore (Diane) Kepes Sr. and Prudence Varro née Iannotti, his brothers Paul (Monica) Kepes, Steven (Cheryl) Kepes, Samuel Garza, David Scarpaci, and his nephew and nieces William, Anna, Grace, Alexandria, and Rebecca Kepes.

Ted was born on May 15th, 1966, in Chicago, Illinois. He spent most of his life in Chicagoland and Boston before moving to Overland Park, Kansas where he spent his last ten years. Ted had a lifelong passion for learning, and he devoted his career to education and helping others understand more about God.

He earned a B.A. in Theology from Lewis University, an M.A. in Theology from Loyola University of Chicago, an M.A. in Philosophy from Boston College, and a Ph.D. in Theology from Boston College. Over many years, Ted was a professor at Rockhurst University, Avila University, Boston College, Marist College and the University of Saint Mary. In addition, Ted has also published a number of works on theology.

Ted was a loving father, enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephew, and had a deep appreciation for music. Visitation for Ted will be on Friday, May 3rd, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, 7812 N. Milwaukee Ave. , Niles, IL.

Services to continue on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at Skaja Terrace, and then to St. Emily Catholic Church, 1400 E. Central Rd. , Mt. Prospect, IL for a 10:00 a.m. Mass.

Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery immediately following the Mass. The family would like to express sincere gratitude for all the love and prayers, from so many, for Ted throughout his journey. Additionally, the family would like to recognize the outstanding care and compassion from the team at Saint Luke’s Hospice House, 3516 Summit St., Kansas City, MO.
