Our foundation has dropped from beneath us. You left us far too soon, yet you are in our hearts forever. Terry, Mom, Grandma, Sweetheart …we love you.
Mrs. Theresa Ann Meza, our beautiful and beloved Angel, passed away on November 9, 2018 at the age of 72. As she drifted peacefully into the embrace of her Lord and Savior, Theresa (Terry) was blanketed in love and prayers of her family and friends. Terry is survived by her loving husband, Ernesto (Ernie) Meza.
Terry and Ernie shared the rare gift and blessing of being married for 52 years, and they will forever be joined as one. They met December 12, 1963 and it was love at first sight. She always said when they met, she told her friends, this is the man I will marry.
They dated for a year and a half and married on May 21, 1966, just as she predicted. Terry and Ernie had two adoring sons, Ernest Meza Jr. and Eric Christopher Meza. Terry retired from Wm Beaumont Army Hospital after 37 years in civil service.
The friends she made while working at Mountain View Dermatology after retiring from civil service became like family. Terry cherished a small group of close friends whom she would meet with once a month to have dinner. She also shared a close and enduring bond with her caring sister Linda.
Terry’s life was dedicated to her husband and family. In addition to being her sons’ biggest music fan in in their youth she also taught them the importance of education, as they both went on to become attorneys. Everyone knew Terry as a generous, kind, and loving person who always put others ahead of herself.
She was born October 2, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas to Tom and Rose Alcala, moving to El Paso in the 1950s. Terry is survived by her husband Ernie, her sons Ernest and his wife Becki, and Eric and his wife Tanya; her beloved grandchildren Esai Cristiano Meza, Eriana Cristine Meza, Julianne Smith, and Kaylin Smith; and siblings Linda Harvey (Terrence), Tom Alcala (Anne), Carlos Alcala (Norma), Daniel Alcala, and Robert Alcala (Carmen). Visitation will be held on November 23, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home-West, 480 N. Resler Drive.
